High Court halts the release of Aarakshan

By Raymond Ronamai

Prakash Jha's Aarakshan is in trouble waters. After facing the rage of many politicians and Dalit organisations, the Madras High Court has stayed its release over non-payment of dues.

Based on the suit filed by Madhu Gupta and CG Photo Ltd for recovery of Rs 3.75 crore, the Madras High Court has granted an interim stay on the release of the the film.

Aarakshan featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone has become a topic of discussion, as it is said to be based on reservation in Indian education system. A few universities have barred the unit of the film to address to its students for fear of sparking controversy. Now, the release of the film is likely to be postponed following the court's ruling.
