much-hyped
film,
Aarakshan
is
in
trouble,
as
the
Republican
Party
of
India
(RPI)
has
threatened
to
ban
the
film
in
Maharashtra,
alleging
that
it
is
anti-dalit.
RPI
chief
Ramdas
Athavale
said
that
his
party
will
not
allow
the
screening
of
the
film
in
the
state
if
the
makers
of
the
film
do
not
change
anti-dalit
theme.
RPI

The
party's
warning
came
after
the
National
Commission
of
Scheduled
Castes
(NCSC)
termed
the
film
as
anti-dalit
and
asked
producer
Prakash
Jha
to
screen
it
to
a
panel
before
its
release
on
August
12.

special
screening
has
not
taken
place
yet.
Athavale
said
that
his
party
would
protest
the
screening
of
the
film
is
it
promotes
anti-dalit
message.
