Darsheel in adaptation of Midnight’s Children

By Raymond Ronamai

Child artiste Darsheel Safary, who stole the hearts of the film lovers with her performance in Taare Zameen Par, has bagged another big project. He has been roped in to play the role of Saleem Sinai in Deepa Mehta"s adaptation of Midnight"s Children by Salman Rushdie.

American-Indian actor Satya Bhabha will play the role of the older Saleem while Safary will play the young Saleem. Sources said that Safary was in Colombo shooting for the film. He even celebrated his birthday with the cast and crew of the film.

However, his dad is not willing to reveal the details. “We"re really not allowed to talk about it. But Darsheel has missed out a lot on his school because he was shooting out of the country. Now that he is back, I"m being very strict with his studies. He is not allowed to miss school, although he is promoting his new film Zokkomon. After school he has to go for tuition without fail," Mumbai Mirror quoted Safary's dad Mitesh as saying.

“He is in Class 9. He has to keep up with the rest of the class. If he falls behind because of his shootings, he may not be able to make good grades. What guarantee is there that his future as an actor is ensured just because he is successful in that field now?" he added.
