Actress
Asin
Thottumkal
might
have
left
south
Indian
film
industry
for
Bollywood,
but
she
is
still
a
Malayali
kutty
at
heart.
Yes!
Onam
is
a
grand
festival
for
this
Kerala-born
lass
and
amidst
her
busy
schedules,
she
has
found
time
to
celebrate
the
harvest
festival
with
gusto
today.
In
recent
years,
Asin
has
gone
very
busy
with
her
shooting
schedules.
She
may
not
get
time
to
celebrate
all
the
festivals,
but
for
Onam,
she
surely
takes
off
to
spend
time
with
family
and
enjoy
the
payasam.
The
Bollywood
actress,
who
is
stationed
in
Rajasthan
till
October,
managed
to
get
two
days
off
and
flew
down
to
Mumbai
on
Tiruonam
to
spend
the
day
with
her
parents.
Talking
to
the
DNA,
excited
Asin
gushes
on
Onam
festival.
“The
highlight
of
the
festival
is
obviously
the
vegetarian
food
spread,
but
the
dessert,
payasam,
is
the
best
part
of
it.
Known
as
the
King
of
sweets,
payasam
(kheer)
is
my
most
favourite
dessert," the
DNA
quotes
the
actress
as
saying
The
actress
recalls
her
fond
memories
of
preparing
to
welcome
Maveli
home.
“The
best
part
of
the
day
was
when
Maveli
(King
Mahabali)
came
visiting
(a
la
Santa
Claus)
his
subjects'
homes.
He
would
be
welcomed
with
a
flower
carpet
known
as
the
Athapookalam.
As
kids
we
would
head
out
early
in
the
morning
with
our
baskets
to
collect
flowers
to
make
the
carpet.
It
used
to
be
so
much
fun."
However,
Asin
debuted
in
Bollywood
with
the
film
Ghajini
and
later
she
has
starred
in
London
Dreams
and
Ready.
Now,
she
has
two
Hindi
projects
like
Housefull
2
and
Bol
Bachchan,
which
are
slated
to
release
in
2012.
Currently,
she
is
busy
with
the
shooting
of
Housefull
2
in
Rajasthan.
