Actor
Ranbir
Kapoor
turns
generous.
He
donates
solar
lamps
worth
lakhs
of
rupees
to
Purani
Bazar
village
in
Lakhisarai
town
of
Bihar.
According
to
a
source,
when
a
news
channel
approached
Ranbir
for
help,
the
actor
believed
in
what
they
were
doing
and
sponsored
the
solar
lamps
by
doing
his
bit
of
energy
conservation.
Ranbir
however,
did
not
blindly
donated
for
the
cause
he
did
his
own
research
and
contributed
for
the
cause,
said
a
source
to
Mid
Day,
"RK
found
out
that
solar
lamps
are
more
economical
and
less
polluting
than
kerosene
lamps.
So
he
told
the
channel
he
wanted
to
donate
lamps
to
the
village."
The
Purani
Bazar
villagers
are
very
thankful
to
Ranbir
for
helping
them
out
with
their
day
to
day
need.
The
vegetable
vendors
in
the
village
faced
a
lot
of
problems
as
they
couldn't
keep
their
stall
open
after
sundown
because
of
no
electricity,
but
now
business
will
be
quiet
easier
for
them.
Ranbir
told
to
Mid
Day,
"I
did
the
little
I
could
in
my
small
way
and
I
hope
this
encourages
the
youth
to
do
the
same.
I
am
very
humbled
by
the
villagers'
appreciation." Ranbir
is
a
part
of
the
NDTV
Greenathon
2010
that
is
working
towards
raising
money
to
provide
solar
power
to
160
villages
across
the
nation.
