Child artiste Rubina Ali, who played young Latika in Slumdog Millionaire, has lost her home in the massive fire at Garib Nagar slum near Bandra Railway Station in Mumbai on Friday. Her International trophies and some expensive dresses that she had worn during the Oscar ceremony were burnt in this Bandra fire accident.

Rubina Ali, who is now studying in 3rd standard, had to spend a sleepless night on Friday and miss her school on Saturday after Garib Nagar blaze gutted down her house. She was watching TV when the fire broke in her slum area. Along with her parents, she ran away with only a few things in hands.

The Slumdog Millionaire star kid had won the Screen Actors Guild Award and she was also honoured at the Oscar awards. But all those honours were burnt to ashes in the blaze. Talking to media, Rubina said, “I lost everything in that fire. The awards that I had won for the film, the newspaper clippings, some expensive dresses that I had worn during the Oscar ceremony, my school uniform, books — everything is gone,"

However, Danny Boyle had promised homes to both Rubina and her co-star Azharuddin and has fulfilled his words by issuing them homes. But Rubina's father Qureshi had sought a home in Bandra as he has set up his business there. So her family was still living at Garib Nagar, while Azhar moved into his new house in Santa Cruz.
