Shahrukh Khan, who was to star in Sajid Nadiadwala's Two States will now be replaced by Ranbir Kapoor. Two States, based on Chetan Bhagat's novel was to be directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. However, there has been a change in the plan now. The film will be produced jointly by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala and will have Ranbir Kapoor essay the lead role.
Karan Johar, who has never co-produced a film with another banner apparently approached Sajid Nadiadwala to co-produce the film Two States. Speaking to Times of India, Karan Johar said, “Abhishek Varman who assisted me on My Name Is Khan and is now creative director on Student Of The Year has written a simple and fantastic adaptation of Two States. Sajid has the rights of the book and we are in discussions about an association."
Confirming the same, Sajid Nadiadwala said that he and Karan are exploring the possibilities of producing a film together. The filmmaker also said that if the venture works out, then it will be the marriage between two production companies for pure creativity and not due to any financial constraints.
