Actor Shiney Ahuja on Tuesday moved the Mumbai High Court challenging his final judgment on the rape of his maid in June 2009. A Mumbai session court on March 30 sentenced the actor to seven years in jail after finding him guilty of raping his maid servant.

His lawyer Shrikant Shinade told IANS, "Justice A.R. Joshi admitted the appeal challenging Shiney's conviction by a sessions court, which sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment." He also informed that along with the conviction they have also filed a bail application pending hearing of the appeal. Shinade continued, "It is likely to come up for hearing on April 27."

Shiney Ahuja was arrested on June 15, 2009 after the medical test confirmed sexual assault. He was released on bail in October 2001. Later in September 2010, after one year of accusing Ahuja of rape, the maid told the court that the rape never took place, however the medical examination has confirmed it.
