"I would be working on Zanjeer remake. The role that I play is completely new and original. It was not there in the 1973 film. Apoorva has written the role and it is really good," Atul told PTI, without divulging any further detail about his character. "I am yet to start shooting for the film. It would begin from this month end," he said.
The highly anticipated project Zanjeer directed by Apoorva Lakhia stars southern star Ram Charan Teja and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. The role of Sher Khan, originally played by veteran actor Pran, will be essayed by Sanjay Dutt in the remake. Meanwhile, Atul will also be seen in Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming film based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The movie aims to bring every aspect of the dreadful attacks, in which 166 people were killed.
He also has KC Bokadia's film Dirty Politics in hand. The film is said to be based on the infamous Bhanwari murder case. The film features Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Rana and Atul Kulkarni in pivotal roles. "I play an investigative officer in this film," Atul said. Apart from the Hindi film projects, Atul has a Malayalam movie in hand titled Andheri. It is the debut directorial venture of Biju Bhasker. Shot in Mumbai, the film revolves around the hopes and crisis of Mumbai Malayalees, who come to the city in search of jobs.
