Vidya Balan collects her first National Award for The Dirty Picture

Bollywood diva Vidya Balan received her first Best Actress National Award for her outstanding performance as Silk Smitha in the movie The Dirty Picture, yesterday.

Vidya Balan, as usual chose to wear something traditional for the function. The beautiful actress was wearing a traditional pink Kanjeevaran sari with diamond chandelier earrings.

The 59th National Film Awards Function was held in New Delhi and Vidya Balan received the Rajat Kamal from Vice President Hamid Ansari.

After receiving the award Vidya Balan spoke to the media, “I am extremely humbled. This (National Award) is the highest honour for any actor, and I feel happy and humbled and I just wish that the team of The Dirty Picture was with me to share this moment. This is truly humbling." The actress also said that she is happy to change the image of heroines in Bollywood movies.

Vidya was accompanied by her parents for the function. Vidya's beau Siddharth Roy Kapoor was also at the ceremony to collect the Best Children's Film award for Chillar Party on behalf of UTV Motion Pictures.
