Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned 40 on November 1 this year and she decided against a lavish party. Instead the gorgeous lady from the B-Town spent time with her friends from her college days.

Since the time she gave birth to her daughter Aaradhya, Aishwarya has been caught in her motherhood. She has not even made com-back to acting because she is giving all her attention to her daughter. Many expected that Aishwarya may have grand party for her birthday but she decided that she needed to spend some quality time with her friends.

A source tells us that Ash is so caught up being a mother that she barely spends time with others. "Lately Aishwarya Rai Bachchan barely has time for family, let alone friends. Her husband Abhishek, in-laws and her parents complain she is so much on the move with her baby Aaradhya that there is no time for the family to catch up with the mother-daughter duo. Therefore, Aishwarya decided that her birthday would be the perfect occasion to invite her friends home. We hear that was a very intimate gathering. "Aishwarya Rai wanted to catch up with her really close friends from college. They are married and have busy lives of their own. She was meeting them after years. Aishwarya preferred to do this long-pending rendezvous with her college friends on her birthday," the source added.
