Yesteryear star Reena Roy's sister Barkha Roy is planning to make a biopic on legendary painter MF Hussain. Barkha, best remembered for producing 1982 hit film Sanam Teri Kasam, met Hussain around 10 years ago in Bandra.
Talking about her biopic, Barkha Roy told in a statement, "My Friend Hussain is an out-and-out one hour and 10 minutes of commercial film. It's Hussain's journey with friends. And all big artists like S.H. Raza, Kishan Khanna and Ram Kumar have all spoken about the great painter. The film will be released in September, around the time of Hussain sahab's birthday."
Barkha Roy also says that My Friend Hussain is her tribute to the great painter and she wants the world to see Hussain's personal side.
MF Hussain was born into a Muslim family on 17 September 1915. Hussain painted cinema posters in Mumbai early in his career. He became well-known as an artist in the late 1940s. He was one of the most celebrated and internationally recognized Indian artists of the 20th century. Hussain died on 9 June 2011.
