Following
Maharashtra
and
Madhya
Pradesh,
Delhi
has
become
the
third
state
that
has
exempted
Rakeysh
Omprakash
Mehra's
Bhaag
Milkha
Bhaag
from
Entertainment
tax.
This
doesn't
come
as
a
big
surprise
to
Rakeysh
Omprakash
Mehra,
but
he
is
extremely
thrilled
that
more
people
can
watch
his
film.
The
director
had
anticipated
tax
exemption
as
it
is
a
biopic
on
legendary
athlete
Milkha
Singh.
This
is
Delhi's
chance
to
celebrate
the
spirit
of
Bhaag
Milkha
Bhaag.
Delhi
Chief
Minister
Sheila
Dikshit
watched
the
film
on
the
eve
of
July
23
and
immediately
granted
it
exemption
from
entertainment
tax.
"Dikshit
was
visibly
moved
by
the
film.
She
took
a
call
on
the
tax
exemption
without
hesitation," said
a
source.
Rakeysh
Omprakash
Mehra
could
barely
contain
his
emotions.
"What
can
I
say?
First
Maharashtra,
then
Madhya
Pradesh
and
now
Delhi
has
granted
Bhaag
Milkha
Bhaag
a
tax
exemption.
I
am
humbled
by
the
unanimous
acceptance
of
the
spirit
of
Milkha,"
expressed
Mehra.
Different
State
Governments
giving
this
exemption
shows
the
film's
far-reaching
inspirational
impact.
"The
film
would
now
be
accessible
to
those
middle
class
Indians
who
cannot
afford
the
ticket
prices
at
multiplexes.
That
thought
makes
me
very
happy,"
said
the
director
after
Maharashtra's
speedy
support.
The
movie
released
on
July
11
this
year
and
is
being
critically
acclaimed
by
everyone.
