Grand Masti, the adult comedy
starring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab
Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh is caught in a legal
tussle with ICICI bank, which has claimed that the makers of the
movie had not sought out their permission prior to showing the name
and banner of the bank. The movie which is already embroiled in
many a controversies regarding the adult content shown in the movie
has now another obstacle to face before it releases.
The court has ordered the movie makers to refrain from using the
name and banner of the bank until further notice. Furthermore
Justice ML Mehta has also issued notice to the director and
producers of the movie. The bank and its staff has been shown in a
poor light in the trailer of the movie when a robbery is taking
place, argued senior advocate Sanjay Jain, who was representing the
ICICI bank. He further added that the ICICI bank has its own
registered trademark and the makers should have taken permission
from the bank before using their banner. Sanjay Jain said that the
manner in which the name of the bank is used in the trailer is
damaging to the reputation of the esteemed bank.
ICICI bank wants the makers to remove the objectionable visuals
from the movie. Grand Masti is the sequel to the 2004 hit
comedy Masti and it has the same male cast as its prequel.
The movie is scheduled to hit the theaters on September 13.
