Mumbai: Legendary sprinter Milkha Singh is looking forward to watch Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a big screen biopic on his life. Interestingly, the former Olympian has not gone to a theatre in the past 53 years. The last movie that he saw was a black and white classic Anmol Ghadi (1946) starring Suraiya and Noor Jehan. But now he plans to watch the movie based on his own life, with his family and close friends.
"I loved watching films from Raj Kapoor days. In fact, some of my best memories of films come from that era. I would love to see Bhaag Milkha Bhaag on the big screen," Singh said in a statement.
The film chronicles the journey of the sport icon from a traumatised childhood in Pakistan, the partition, his achievements as an athlete in independent India to his moment of glory as the country's ace runner.
Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar is playing the athlete in the movie and has devoted all his energies in getting into sportsman's shoes. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and releases on July 12.
