Superstar
Salman
Khan
will
face
trial
in
Mumbai
sessions
court
for
culpable
homicide
today
(24
July),
in
connection
with
the
2002
hit
and
run
case.
Salman
was
supposed
to
leave
for
London
on
26th
July
for
the
shooting
of
his
upcoming
movie
Kick,
but
due
to
his
hearing
today,
he
canceled
the
trip.
Salman
Khan's
SUV
ran
over
a
group
of
people
sleeping
on
the
pavement
in
2002.
In
the
accident,
one
person
was
killed
and
four
others
were
injured
badly.
Earlier,
Salman
Khan
was
only
being
tried
for
rash
and
negligent
driving,
which
has
a
sentence
of
two
years.
But
in
January
2013,
the
metropolitan
magistrate,
examined
17
witnesses
related
to
the
case
and
charged
Salman
Khan
for
culpable
homicide.
In
March
2013,
Salman
Khan
appealed
against
the
magistrate's
order
and
asked
for
a
retrial
in
the
case
under
the
stringent
charge
of
culpable
homicide
not
amounting
to
murder.
But
on
June
24,
the
Mumbai
Sessions
Court
rejected
Salman's
review
petition.
And
now
the
actor
will
now
have
to
face
a
fresh
trial
on
the
culpable
homicide
not
amounting
to
murder
case,
under
Section
304
of
IPC.
If
convicted,
Salman
Khan
will
have
to
go
to
the
jail
for
ten
years.
