Looks like after Slumdog Millionaire, Kamasutra 3D is the next movie which is reaching the oscars.
The movie Kamasutra 3D has made it to the Best Original Song list with Aygiri Nadani, Har Har Mahadeva, I Felt, Of The Soil and Sawariya, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced. The songs were composed by Chennai-based music directors Sachin and Sreejith, while its lyrics are penned by Rupesh Paul and Pratyush Prakash.
The film is based on Vatsyana's kamasutra , Indian Hindu text in Sanskrit literature widely considered to be the noted work on human sexual behavior. The movie is set in the backdrop of the real historical milieu, Kamasutra 3D is the journey of a soulful love embodied with betrayal and war. The movie stars the very controversial Sherlyn Chopra. It is is directed by Rupesh Paul and has already been embraced in the cannes film festival.
Five songs are nominated from the Kerala based film maker's movie to compete with 75 countries for best original song in the 86th oscars. This film is the only film other than leonardo dicaprio starrer The Great Gatsby to have five songs in the list. The 86th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on January 16, 2014 and the award ceremony will take place on March 2, 2014. "Probably now we have an answer for all of them who claimed the movie to be soft porn. Hopefully, they know that soft porns are not eligible for the Academy Award nominations," says director Rupesh Paul.
Kamasutra 3D, which has already released in the US, is also in contention for nomination in the list for Best Motion Picture and Original Score. Excited over his movie vying for Oscars, Milind Gunaji, one of the cast members said, "When Rupesh Paul gave me the news for nomination I was very very happy. From the beginning I knew that this film will be big, so I was not highly surprised. It's an honor for me to be part of such a prestigious project."
