Sridevi feels honoured and humbled by Padma Shri award

who
has
been
chosen
for
Padma
Shri
award
this
year,
says
she
feels
humbled
to
receive
the
honour.
"I
am
honoured
and
humbled
by
the
recognition.
I
would
like
to
thank
my
fans
for
all
the
love
and
support
they
have
given
me," she
said
in
a
statement
today.
Sridevi
made
her
comeback
after
a
gap
of
15
years
with
English
Vinglish,
which
released
in
October
last
year.
The
film,
directed
by
debutante
Gauri
Shinde,
saw
the
versatile
actor
playing
the
role
of
a
simple
housewife
and
her
aspiration
and
struggle
to
learn
English.
The
49-year-old
has
worked
in
Tamil,
Telugu,
Malayalam,
Kannada
and
Hindi
cinema.
Sridevi
entered
cinema
as
a
child
artiste
in
Tamil
film
Kandan
Karunai
in
1967.
She
came
to
Bollywood
first
as
a
child
artiste
in
1975
with
Julie
and
her
first
adult
role
was
in
Solva
Sawan.
Thereafter,
there
was
no
looking
back
for
Sridevi.
She
gave
memorable
performances
in
films
like
Sadma,
Mr
India,
Chandni,
Chaalbaaz,
Lamhe,
Khuda
Gawah
and
Judaai
among
others.
