"Among the new generation of actors, Sushant is promising. He never shows off his acting. It is very subtle and inherent. He is a very good actor," said Banerjee. The movie Detective Byomkesh Bakshi is based on one of the 33 crime thrillers penned by famed Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandopadhyay.
The film will be set in the World War years(1940s).Dibaker Banerjee is currently busy scouting for locations in the Kolkata for this forthcoming film that is slated to hit the theatres in December this year.
Byomkesh Bakshi is the the protagonist in the movie. Sushant, who made his debut with Kai Po Che!, will be seen as an adventurous, young, fresh out of college and thriller-loving youth who wants to be a detective. "Sushant is the earlier Byomkesh (1930s). The Byomkesh that Bandyopadhayay wrote when he was young and adventurous. That is the new aspect that you will get,"said Banerjee.
Before entering the B-Town, the actor has had a successful stint with a television serial as the male lead Manav in Pavitra Rishta. "He is very natural, subtle and credit goes to him for efficiently portraying Manav. The second reason is that he is modern and I wanted a young, vulnerable actor," he added.
