Word of mouth publicity made Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns a hit

New Delhi: Director Tigmanshu Dhulia, who has directed drama-thriller Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, has a reason to celebrate. Word of mouth publicity has helped the movie to mint Rs 12.75 crore during its opening weekend.

The opening day figure of Saheb Biwi Aur... stood at Rs 3.5 crore, which jumped to Rs 4.25 crore on Saturday and on Sunday the collection reached Rs 5 crore mark, said a statement.

Said to be made on a budget of Rs 7 crore, Saheb Biwi... is co-produced by Dhulia and Rahul Mittra. The movie is a sequel to 2011 film Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, which was appreciated for its intense script, narration and performances.

The sequel stars actors Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill, who are reprising their roles from the previous film. They are joined by Irrfan and Soha Ali Khan in the cast.

The film grew from strength to strength over the weekend as it was supported by strong word of mouth and extremely positive reviews from critics.

With its strong direction, dialogues and acting, the movie also created quite a buzz on social media and was trending for three days on Twitter.

With a small release in India as well as limited screenings in overseas market, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns has got one of the best openings for a small film. This is also highest ever for a Dhulia film.
