Bombay
Velvet,
the
period
drama
finally
gets
a
release
date.
The
Anurag
Kashyap
directed
film
starring
Ranbir
Kapoor
and
Anushka
Sharma
will
hit
the
theaters
on
May
15,
2015.
Bombay
Velvet
was
supposed
to
release
during
Christmas
this
year
but
the
makers
moved
the
dates
ahead
to
November
2014
to
avoid
the
clash
with
Aamir
Khan
starrer
PK.
However
the
film
has
a
new
release
date
now.
Confirming
this
news,
Anurag
Kashyap
said
to
a
leading
daily,
"The
film
needed
time,
given
all
the
work
that
was
pending.
Now
that
we
have
locked
the
release
date,
everyone
associated
with
it
is
thrilled.
An
exciting
marketing
plan
is
being
crafted
to
promote
it
in
a
way
no
film
has
been
presented
before."
The
film's
producer
Vijay
Singh
says
that
it
was
necessary
to
recreate
the
Mumbai
of
the
60s
and
the
visual
effects
to
recreate
this
would
be
complete
only
by
January
end.
"It
will
definitely
be
the
biggest
release,
in
terms
of
prints,
of
the
first
half
of
2015," Vijay
Singh
said.
The
film
which
will
hit
the
theaters
in
May
2015
might
have
a
tough
competition
with
the
IPL
season
starting
during
that
time.
However
the
producer
argues
saying,
"Summer
holidays
are
a
good
time
to
release
a
film
and
people
would
have
had
enough
of
cricket
by
then."
"It's
a
Ranbir
Kapoor
film,
a
beautiful
love
story
set
against
the
rise
of
our
city.
It's
authentic
cinema
with
amazing
performances
and
we
are
all
excited
about
the
May
15
opening," he
further
adds.
Filmmaker
Karan
Johar
has
a
pivotal
role
in
Bombay
Velvet.
