has
been
honoured
with
Music
Living
Legend
Award
at
the
grand
ceremony
of
fourth
edition
of
the
Global
Indian
Music
Academy
Awards
(GiMA)
2014
held
on
Monday
night
(January
20,
2014).
This
award
was
given
in
recognition
to
her
wonderful
contributions
to
music
industry.
Bollywood
actor
Anil
Kapoor
presented
her
this
honour.
Having
started
her
singing
career
in
1943,
Asha
Bhosle
has
crooned
for
over
a
thousand
Bollywood
movies
in
the
last
sixty
years.
She
has
recorded
several
private
albums
and
participated
in
numerous
solo
concerts
in
India
and
abroad.
She
has
received
many
awards
including
IIFA,
Filmfare,
National
film
awards.
This
is
for
the
first
time,
she
is
getting
an
honour
from
GiMA
Awards.
On
this
award
night,
Asha
Bhosle
paid
a
tribute
to
late
husband
and
music
maestro
R
D
Burman.
The
legendary
playback
singer
brought
in
a
wave
of
nostalgia
with
popular
renditions
like
‘Mera
Naam
Shabnam',
'Dum
Maro
Dum',
'Gulaabi
Chehera',
'Aa
Dekhe
Zara'
and
'Piya
Tu
Ab
To
Aaja'
on
the
occasion,
which
witnessed
the
performance
of
Aditya
Narayan,
Shefali
Alvares,
Ankit
Tiwari,
Sreeram,
Bhoomi,
Aditi
Singh
Sharma,
Siddharth
Mahadevan
and
Nikhil
Paul
George.
GiMA
Awards
is
meant
to
honour
the
talents
in
a
wide
range
of
film
and
non-film
music
genres.
The
fourth
edition
of
the
awards
was
held
at
the
National
Sports
Club
of
India
stadium
in
Worli,
Mumabi.
It
was
a
starry
and
glitzy
event,
which
was
hosted
by
actor
Ranveer
Singh,
comedian
Kapil
Sharma
and
TV
actor
Manish
Paul.
