It looks like the scheduled general elections have taken their toll on the release of all new films. One movie that has got affected because of polls is Heropanti. Originally, slated for a release on May 16, the film which marks the debut of veteran 'Hero' Jackie Shroff's son Tiger, will now be released for public a week later on May 23rd.
The reason behind the delay in release of the movie is due to the fact that the counting of the votes clashes with the original date of the movie release.
And any film that releases on the election date is bound to be affected by the poll fever, thus resulting in poor collections on the opening day itself. Hence, it was decided to defer the release of the movie Heropanti by another week.
Speaking on the proposed change in the release date, producer Sajid Nadiadwala said that although the original date of releasing the movie was on May 16, due to the counting of votes on the same day, we have dropped the plan and moved it to May 23.
Nadiadwala also added that Karan Johar's film Ungli, which was supposed to be released on May 23, will now be releasing on a later date. Following a request made by Nadiadwala, Karan readily agreed to postpone his planned release. But, he is yet to confirm the new release date for his flick that stars Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut in the lead.
