I Thought Soumik Was Crazy: Juhi Chawla

The dream girl of 90's, Juhi Chawla is all set to make a great come back this year with Gulab Gang. The film, produced by Ra One fame Anubhav Sinha, is directed by débutante Soumik Sen. Juhi says that she thought the director is crazy to offer her a negative role in Gulab Gang. It is believed that the role of a cunning politician in Gulaab Gang will be a game changer for Juhi. Interestingly, in her 20 years career, this is the first time the 46 year old actress is donning a villain role.

An excited Juhi, explains, "The first time I heard the role I thought he (Soumik Sen) has gone insane. Gradually, I got convinced after he explained it further. I thought it would be wonderful if I could do it." Soumika Sen, the director of the film, made a funny remark by saying that he had to show his musical side to Juhi in order to get her on board for the project.

Soumik added, "I had to sing to convince Juhi. I had cast Madhuri as the hero of the film as it was in my mind from before but while choosing a villain I thought it must be as big if not bigger. I was also trying to break the mould as Charlie Chaplin, Amol Palekar have done earlier and therefore Juhi was taken as the villain for the film."

Gulab Gang, based on real life, is scheduled to release on March 7, 2014.
