The
Sundance
Institute
Mahindra
Global
Filmmaking
Awards
is
a
part
of
a
multifaceted
collaboration
between
the
Indian
conglomerate
Mahindra
Group
and
the
non-profit
Sundance
Institute
that
exemplifies
its
support
to
World
Cinema.
In
it's
4th
edition
this
year
(2014),
held
at
a
private
ceremony
in
Park
City,
Utah
-
4
Film-makers
including
Neeraj
Ghaywan
from
India
was
awarded
this
recognition
as
an
emerging
independent
filmmaker
for
his
screenplay
Fly
Away
Solo.
Neeraj
has
in
the
past
directed
2
short
films
including
a
portion
of
Anurag
Kashyap's
-
Shorts;
and
has
been
an
Assistant
Director
on
films
like
Gangs
of
Wasseypur
&
upcoming
movie
Ugly.
For
the
selection
of
the
Award
for
the
Indian
project,
the
Global
Filmmaking
Award
Nomination
Committee,
which
comprised
of
eminent
screenwriters,
directors
and
film
academics,
went
through
over
20
screenplays
and
directorial
samples
of
the
candidates.
After
intense
debate
and
deliberation
and
consultation
with
the
Sundance
Institute,
the
Indian
award
winner
was
decided.
The
Global
Filmmaking
Award
