Prostitution Controversy: Shweta Basu Claims Reports As False

So much hullaballo was created regarding Shweta Basu Prasad allegedly being into prostitution and her reported statements after being arrested. It was reported that Shweta Basu admitted getting into prostitution to financially support her family as she was unable to get any film offers.

However, Shweta Basu has returned back home from the rehab and now a totally new version of the entire controversy has come up.
One publication has now come up with a report in which Shweta Basu denies all allegations of prostitution and claims that all the reported statements were false.

"No, I never made that statement. I was in custody. I wasn't allowed to speak to my mother and father, then how would I speak to the media? Whoever made up that statement damaged my reputation by saying that all doors were closed to me and people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. These are outrageous lies that I never uttered. No such thing has happened and the film industry has always been very warm and welcoming to me. Shame on the people who said I was forced by my family to do certain things to afford a lifestyle," Shweta Basu was quoted in DNA.

"The media should have waited for me to come out before making up its mind whether I was guilty or not. I should have been given the right to defend myself. When I was in there, I was not allowed to watch television or read papers. It's now when I come out that I see what a media circus my life was made into," added the same report quoting actress Shweta Basu.

The report also included Shweta Basu's version of the incident in which she denied being called to Hyderabad by any agent for commercial sex, rather she was caught into a misfortune.

"I had gone there to attend an awards ceremony. Call it fate or whatever, I missed my flight back in the morning. My air ticket and stay were done by the organisers of the function. I still have the ticket. I am a victim of the whole situation. I admit that there was a raid but the facts are not what they have been made out to be," said Shweta Basu as reported in the publication.
