It looks like everything has gone wrong with Jai Ho! From the low promotional strategies to Salman's infamous Narendra Modi visit, everything worked against the film. In fact, this was one of the movies Salman had a lot of faith in it and he even went on record saying he loved the film.
But Jai Ho ended up even lower than his recent hit
films such as Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2 and
Body Guard. Now, it is proven that the film was leaked in
internet through various unknown sources based in Dubai. The entire
movie which has a length of 2hr and 17 min is uploaded to Youtube
by a random user, that too within a few days since its theatrical
The first pirated print was out on January 24 and was uploaded
on 28th of the same month in YouTube from Dubai. The video had
1,08,151 views when it is removed from YouTube by the site
authorities on Saturday. Then somebody has put up a better print of
the film the next day itself.
The pirated versions were heavily circulating in the next few
days that it affected the box office collections very badly. Salman
camp keeps mum about the incident but is seriously distressed over
the incident and thinks this is the major reason behind film's
average performance in the box office.
Industry analysts opine that Jai Ho may have lost
almost 10-12 crores within four days if 1 lakh people happened to
watch the pirated version. Theatre owners are seriously upset about
it but YouTube officials remained unavailable for the comment. The
pirated versions of Bollywood films were uploaded in YouTube in the
past too but Jai Ho seems to be the quickest pirated
version so far.
Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh says, " Piracy should be fought back by the industry and the government. These days, a movie releases worldwide and it is difficult to keep a track from where an incident of piracy can occur. The video should be removed instantly, as crores are at stake".
