It is the 75th birthday of legendary musician, R D Burman. Also known as Pancham Da, he was one of the most beloved and admired composer in Bollywood. R D Burman was the son of legendary music director Sachin Dev Burman. On the special occasion of his 75th birth anniversary, a movie on him named Pancham - Mujhe Chalte Jaana Hai is released today (27th June, 2014).
From the 60s to the 90s, Pancham Da or R D Burman has given hit music which ruled the industry that time. R D Burman composed musical scores for over 331 movies. The movie, Pancham - Mujhe Chalte Jaana Hai will have leading music composers and singers talk about R D Burman.
Farah Khan said, "Pancham Da was pure genius. If we write about the history of Hindi cinema's music, his name would be on the top. Even today when his songs are played on radio, television and films it feels like they are songs from a recent movie. The songs are still very fresh and relevant even today."
Ace composer, Shankar Mahadevan said, "His musical contribution gave birth to many iconic characters in Bollywoo d. For example, he composed the character background score for Gabbar's (in movie ‘Sholay') entry by combining different unconventional musical instruments such as the ghungroo."
Even after the death in 1994, his songs are still popular in India. ‘Pancham - Mujhe Chalte Jaana Hai' will be aired today on Sony MAX at 9 PM.
