Indian Government honored Vidya Balan, who broke gender stereo types in Bollywood films through her bold roles in Ishqiya and The Dirty Picture,with ‘Padma Shri', with the fourth highest civilian honour of the country.
Paresh Rawal, the veteran actor of Bollywood, also is honoured with Padma Shri. For Paresh, who has done fabulous roles in Indian cinema such as Sardar Vallabhai Patel, this is a late gift.Southern Superstar and one of the best actors in the country, Kamal Hassan is honored with Padma Bhushan for his tremendous contribution to film industry.
The Dirty Picture actress was very thrilled to receive this honour from Indian government. The voluptuous beauty of Bollywood opined that it is a matter of great pride for her. She expressed her joy through dedicating the honour to her family. She said, ""I'm thrilled. I'm overjoyed. I'm overwhelmed. I'm honoured. I'm humbled...! I'm running out of words to express my feelings and gratitude."
Vidya Balan played key roles in films that have strong women characters, such as ‘Kahaani, The Dirty Picture, No one Killed Jessica and Ishqiya. "To be receiving this honour from the government of my country is a matter of great pride for me and I dedicate this award to my family who make me, me!," She added.
