to
hit
the
screen
with
her
comeback
film
Jazbaa
but
the
actress
has
reportedly
grabbed
another
powerful
role
in
the
upcoming
Sarabjit
Singh
biopic.
It
has
been
reported
that,
Aishwarya
has
been
roped
in
to
play
the
role
of
Dalbir
Kaur
in
the
biopic
which
is
being
directed
by
Omung
Kumar.
Sarabjit
Singh
happens
to
be
the
later
farmer
who
was
imprisoned
by
Pakistan
after
he
mistakenly
crossed
over
the
border
in
1990.
He
was
brutally
tortured
for
23
years
in
jail
and
eventually
was
killed
by
the
jail
inmates.
Omung
Kumar
has
decided
to
make
a
biopic
on
the
same
and
Aishwarya
Rai
will
reportedly
play
the
role
of
Sarabjit
Singh's
61-year-old
sister.
As
reported,
makers
of
the
upcoming
biopic
approached
several
actresses
like
Kangana
Ranaut,
Deepika
Padukone
and
Priyanka
Chopra
for
the
role
of
Dalbir
Kaur,
but
finally
Aishwarya
grabbed
the
opportunity.
Aishwarya,
who
recently
made
an
impressive
presence
at
the
Cannes
Film
Festival,
will
be
seen
in
Sanjay
Gupta's
Jazbaa
which
also
features
Irrfan
Khan
and
Shabana
Azmi.
