Bajirao Mastani : Ram-Leela's Costume Designer To Dress Deepika In Royal Style

The critically acclaimed fashion & costume designer Anju Modi, whose legacy designs we witnessed in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram-Leela, will again collaborate with the director to design the costumes of his upcoming film, Bajirao Mastani.

Anju Modi, who is currently working on costumes for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, says actress Deepika Padukone will sport a royal style in the film.

"Deepika will be seen dressed in royal style, plus she is playing a Muslim character in the film, so we have tried to give her sharara and kurtis." the designer told IANS.

While giving concept on the film's costumes, Anju said that Bajirao Mastani is a period movie about the Maratha Peshwas and to retain its original look, she kept old Mughal style Angarkha and Maharasthrian style Navwari saris for the film.

Anju Modi, who is a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) , also grabbed an award for Best Costume for Ram-Leela in Screen Awards 2014.

We must say that costumes with vibrant and rich look, play a vital role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films. Well,Wwho can forget the look of Deepika in rich coloured ghagras with patch design on the blouse in Ram-Leela, which made all the girls go crazy!

Bajirao Mastani, which also stars Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles, is all set to release on December, 25.
