The actress has been attending the festival from past 14 years
and the attention that she drew was not enough for Aishwarya to get
entry into the India Pavilion at the 68th Cannes Film Festival on
The 41 year old, launched the first look of her comeback movie, Jazbaa at the Cannes so when she arrived for a photocall held to promote Jazbaa, she was denied entry because she wasn't in possession of the mandatory ‘Blue Pass'.
While media waited for the stunning beauty dressed in the elegant burgundy gown, the film's director Sanjay Gupta and co-producer Sachin Joshi watched helplessly.
It was not till Indian Embassy protocol officer Satya Paul Singh
and representatives of FICCI (the Federation of Indian Chambers of
Commerce and Industry) came that the issue got solved. They
convinced the authorities that Aishwarya was a global celebrity and
therefore she could not be stopped at the gate.

20 Minute Wait
Satish Reddy, Managing Director of World News Network said, "The
security personnel didn't allow Aishwarya access to the India
Pavilion because she was not in possession of the Blue Pass.
Therefore, Aishwarya and the whole ‘Jazbaa' team had to wait 20
minutes or more at the gate."
Satya Paul Saves The Day
"It was the prompt initiative taken by Satya Paul Singh and the
FICCI representatives that saved the day," added Reddy.
Satya Paul, admits, "The car in which Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was
seated had no Blue sticker that gives admission to guests at the
India Pavilion. They were barred at the gates."
Ash At Cannes
He further added, "We had to rush and convince the chief
security officer that Mrs. Bachchan was a global celebrity. It took
us inside an hour before the security chief granted verbal
permission to the ‘Jazbaa' team to proceed. Finally all went on
Ash's PR person denied saying, "It's not true. Permissions were
taken by our bodyguard Franck in the morning itself along with
Samir (Kumar) from FICCI so I wonder how these rumors go
Samir Kumar, Deputy Director of FICCI, Media and Entertainment
said, "It was not at all a major issue. As per norms the Blue Pass
is mandatory therefore we had to request the Security officials at
Cannes for admission who co-operated with us. There was no waiting
at all," he said.
