Superstar Aamir Khan visited the Balali village in Haryana recently to attend the wedding of Mahaveer Singh Phogat's daughter, Geeta. For the uninitiated, Geeta Phogat is a gold winning wrestling champion.
Aamir who plays Geeta's on-screen father in his next film, Dangal took a few days off from his busy schedule to attend the wrestler's wedding. Dressed in an Indian attire, Aamir greeted the guests with folded hands and personally supervised the buying of gifts for both the Phogats and the groom's family.

Sporting a red colour Haryanvi turban and a half jacket, Aamir, who is playing the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, the father of medal-winning athletes Geeta and her sister Babita, in his next film Dangal, clicked at the wedding.

The face of women's wrestling in India, Geeta Phogat married fellow wrestler Pawan Kumar in Haryana. Aamir Khan attended the wedding with actress Sakshi Tanwar, director Nitesh Tiwari and Sanya Malhotra.

At the wedding, Aamir Khan said, ''The greatest gift to them is the film itself. It is a very joyous occasion for us. It is her wedding day. Our heartiest congratulations to her. We pray that the couple have a happy married life.''

Geeta, who won India's first ever gold in women's wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, said, "I can't believe that he came. It is my biggest gift."
Mahavir's Story Is An Inspiration To All: Aamir Khan
"Mahavir's story is an inspiration to all. That's why Nitesh wrote this story. Wrestling is the oldest sport. I watch wrestling on TV and I wish I could also join them in the fights," Aamir said at the wedding.
Aamir At The Phogat Residence
The Phogat residence was crammed with around 500 guests who came to congratulate Geeta Phogat and to catch a glimpse of Aamir Khan.
The actor told the reporters present at the wedding that he wanted to gift Geeta her bridal dress, but that is traditionally done by the bride's maternal uncle. Hence, he stuck to a fruit box. Aamir also added that his gift to the Phogat family is his film Dangal.

When asked if he had presented the bride her wedding lehenga, the actor reportedly said, "I was about to bring one for her but I later got to know that her mama (maternal uncle) is supposed to get it. But my film Dangal is my gift to her and I wish her all the best in life."
Aamir Khan's Dangal is all set to hit the theatres on December 23. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film tells the story of Mahavir Phogat who teaches wrestling to his two daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. The film also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.
