The film is directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Gauri Khan and Farhan Akhtar under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment.

Raees's Plot

Shahrukh Khan's Raees is set in 1980s Gujarat. It tells the story of the eponymous cruel and clever bootlegger Abdul Latif (Shahrukh Khan).

Shahrukh Khan further added, ''To me, acting in a film like this is exactly the same to acting in a Chak De, Swades or a Dilwale! Raees is a very earthy role. I am a very urban actor but Rahul Dholakia could think of me in the earthy role. It simply is something I have not done before.''

Shahrukh Khan Raees is releasing on Eid. There are reports that Salman Khan, whose movie was also releasing with Raees, is planning to postpone the date of Sultan. When Shahrukh was asked to comment on the big clash in the past, he had said, ''There is no issue. Let them also release. It's very simple, their distribution and production offices feel their film should release on Eid, while my distribution office feels that ours is designed for Eid. So, we both have decided (to release the films on the same date), but there's no clash the way it's being made out to be."
