Ranveer Singh On His Role In Padmavati: It’s Completely Out Of My Comfort Zone

The Padmavati actor admits that his role in his next with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the toughest one so far.

Ranveer Singh has already started shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati which has him sharing screen space with Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. The actor reveals that playing Alauddin Khilji in this film is the toughest role he has had to essay so far.

He was quoted saying to Hindustan Times, "It's completely out of my comfort zone. It's a negative character. And to make such maverick decisions at this stage [of my career], is a huge risk. But I have to keep my creativity alive. I have always maintained that something is worth doing only if it thoroughly scares you."

The actor even spoke about why he signed this film. He added, "I had his "happy, fun, light, beautiful, easy, breezy, pyaar, mohabbat waali [lovey-dovey] movie" in my upcoming film (Befikre). So, I have jumped into something more intense now, but it's extremely exciting."

Padmavati has Shahid playing Raja Rawal Ratan Singh whereas Deepika will be seen as Rani Patmavati. The film film revolves around Alauddin Khilji and his obsessive love for Queen Padmavati of Mewar. Said to be his most ambitious project, it will be about the queen's courage to fight her undefeated nemesis.

The much awaited film will be releasing on 17th November, 2017.
