Vidya Balan Narrates A Funny Incident About How She Bagged Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani 2!

Sujoy Ghosh's nail-biting thriller Kahaani starring Vidya Balan was a huge success. The film made on a modest budget, went on to become one of the highest grossers of 2012. In fact, it even won three National Awards.

However, post the film, later in June 2016, there were reports about Vidya not being on talking terms with Sujoy due to some misunderstanding while the news of the film's sequel continued to do the rounds.

At that time, the actress was quoted saying, "We were not talking to each other due to, I don't know, some kind of miscommunication. But I think with Sujoy and me, it is understandable because we either get along famously or we don't. So, we should just focus on today."

But like they say, nothing is permanent in showbiz. Soon, we heard that they patched up and Vidya came on board for Kahaani 2. But do you know that it was Vidya who broke the ice and walked up to the director?

In an interview with Spotboye, the actress narrated an interesting incident about how she bagged the film.

She said, "Sujoy and I, we weren't talking since one-and-half year. Humare beech mein yaa to bohot dosti hoti hai yaa bohot jhagde hote hai. Actually after Kahaani we were supposed to do one more movie: Durga Rani Singh, but then I fell ill and had to leave it, so I told him to go and make it with someone else. At the very same time, I had also signed up for Humari Adhuri Kahaani. I tried to get off that film too, but Mahesh Bhatt told me that he could wait as he was running behind schedule by 6 months. I didn't quit HAK and I think that ticked off Sujoy.

One fine day, I happened to walk into Costa Coffee (Khar) and I saw him. I was hesitant to talk to him but eventually decided to break the ice. I went and tapped him and said "Hi Sujoy, do you remember me? I've worked with you, we did a film together called Kahaani and he shot back: 'Weren't you that pregnant woman in the film?' and we both burst out laughing. We quickly reconnected and he offered me Kahaani 2."

Finally all's well that ends well! The film is slated to release on 2nd December, 2016.
