Akshay Kumar has been starring in quite a lot of hard hitting patriotic films lately, like Airlift and Rustom and his upcoming film Gold deals with the Indian hockey team's victory at the Olympics. All the names sound perfect except for his upcoming film 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha'. Now why on earth would anyone go ahead and keep the word toilet in their film's name? Akshay Kumar opened up about the name and in return gave out a message as well. He said,
"I don't plan anything. If I like a subject, I like the issue, I just bring it ahead and do the film. Which is why I took up Toilet - Ek prem Katha. 50 per cent of people in India don't have toilets. Isn't that an alarming thing? I got a great subject. It's a taboo thing to talk about. When I announced the name, many people called me asking why am I naming the film Toilet? It's a real story. The biggest problem we have. Why not talk about it? There are 1000 children in India who die of diarrhoea everyday. It's a thing I would request the media to write about it."
Toilet Ek Prem Katha is a satirical film on PM Narendra Modi's project 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. Despite being a comedy movie, the film would also send out a message about the importance of toilets and cleanliness.
It is also reported that Sana Khan would play the role of Akshay Kumar's girlfriend in Toilet Ek Prem Katha. A source close to the film was quoted as saying, "It's a cameo extremely crucial to the plot. Sana shot her portions recently during a schedule. She will be seen in a completely desi avatar in the film."
