Richa Chadha: Movies Must Not Take Responsibility To Change Society!
People must look up to political leaders as they are the true flag-bearers of change and must not look up to movies and movie stars, says Richa Chadha.
Movies
are
made
with
the
sole
purpose
of
entertainment
and
expecting
film-makers
to
make
cinema
in
order
to
influence
and
change
society
is
asking
a
little
too
much,
feels
Richa
Chadha.
The
Cabaret
actress
opened
up
by
saying
she
does
not
want
to
be
a
flag-bearer
of
anything
and
people
need
to
expect
the
same
from
movies
altogether.
She
said,
"I
don't
want
to
do
this
flag-bearing
thing.
Cinema
should
not
have
the
responsibility
of
changing
society.
Sure,
you
should
make
good
films
which
have
some
meaning
and
lead
to
something
positive
for
someone,
but
one
doesn't
want
that
burden."
She
further
revealed
that
people
need
to
look
up
to
political
leaders
as
the
flag-bearers
towards
changing
society
and
not
look
up
to
movies
or
movie
stars.
She
said,
"Sometimes,
you
just
tell
a
story
instead
of
looking
for
what
lesson
it
imparts.
We
should
look
for
messages
from
our
political
leaders
whom
we
elect
as
our
representatives,
and
not
from
actors."
"We
shouldn't
do
unethical
things,
like
we
shouldn't
show
women
in
bad
light,
or
even
show
a
particular
community
in
a
bad
light,
or
sing
stuff
like
'Hum
kaale
hain
toh
kya
hua...'.
Don't
do
those
things...
(But)
There
should
not
be
an
unnecessary
burden.
Like
when
we
tell
a
story
about
a
murderer
or
con
man,
we
are
judged
for
glorifying
crime.
But
we're
really
just
telling
a
story,"
she
said.
