Unfortunately, Khanna had committed his son's dates to another filmmaker and hence Sakshi was unavailable for Aashiqui 2. Finally due to time constraint, the Bhatts decided to settle for Aditya RoyKapur to play the male lead Rahul Jaykar.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Mohit Suri is planning to make Aashiqui 3 with Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. However the filmmaker denies that he has finalized the cast.
