Today (December 18), Vijay Sethupathi announced on X (formerly Twitter) the release date of the Merry Christmas trailer with a short clip featuring the film's poster emerging from a gift wrap. His post captioned: "#MerryChristmas Trailer out on 20th December."

Merry Christmas marks the first collaboration between Sriram Raghavan, Katrina Kaif, and Vijay Sethupathi. Initially slated for release in December this year, the film's release has been rescheduled to January 2024. This project marks the Tamil debut of Raghavan, Kaif, and music composer Pritam, and the third Hindi film for Sethupathi.

We're saying so because the movie has been shot in both Hindi and Tamil, each with a distinctive supporting cast. Notable cast members include Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Radhika Apte, and others. The Tamil version features Shanmugaraja, Radhika Sarathkumar, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in pivotal roles.

Principal photography for the film commenced on December 25, 2021, in Mumbai and concluded in January 2023. Various locations in Mumbai, including Filmistan Studio and Chitrakoot Studio, served as backdrops for the film. Pritam composed the music, with Daniel B. George handling the background score. Madhu Neelakandan is credited as the cinematographer, and Pooja Ladha Surti managed the editing.

Produced by Ramesh Taurani, Jaya Taurani, Sanjay Routray, and Kewal Garg under the banners of Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures, the film will be distributed by Pen Marudhar Entertainment and UFO Moviez in Hindi and by Lyca Productions in Tamil. Merry Christmas is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024.
