Gaurav Chopra Hits It Out Of The Park Once Again With Lakeerein, Receives Rave Response From Critics

If there's one actor who's currently surprising the audience effortlessly with his versatility and acting potential, it is Gaurav Chopra. As an actor, Gaurav has always believed in quality ahead of quantity and no wonder, more often than not, he's seen success kissing his feet. As far as showing variation in his acting ability is concerned, he's been on a roll and how, especially after Bachchan Paandey. From that movie to Rana Naidu and Gadar 2, the diversity is for real. Be it receiving accolades or awards, he's been getting it all for his last few projects.

Now, after the magnanimous success of Gadar 2, just when you would have expected Gaurav to do something hardcore commercial, he's surprised the audience with his layered character and portrayal in the recently-released movie, Lakeerein. The movie is extremely niche and it deals with the societal issue of marital rape. For someone who's fresh from the success of one of the biggest commercial hits of the year, a niche film like this is indeed a brave option and well, kudos to Gaurav for showing the muscle power and courage to take such gutsy decisions. His performance in Lakeerein is being widely spoken about by the leading critics of the country who are in awe of his performance. "I am truly humbled by the love I am receiving for my acting and craft in this movie. My audience feels I am completely unrecognisable in this when compared to my last project and as an actor, there can't be any greater compliment than this. This one is truly special for multiple reasons. One reason has to be the subject. As an actor, this is a film which makes you feel proud of being a part of a subject like this that's so important to open up a window for discussion. Secondly, this is also special because it was difficult for me as well. I was doing two shifts and flying between Mumbai and another city playing two completely different characters who are poles apart. One character is of Lakeerein and the other of a husband who's considered to be absolutely ideal. So, to juggle between two characters who are poles apart from each other all within 24 hours was taxing, especially when you consider the travel and flying part. But, I am happy that the hard work has paid off. This is a very special film in my filmography and I am proud to be a part of this. Thankful to my audience and all the critics for seeing depth in my work and appreciating the same. I am truly motivated and humbled."
