Believe it or not, but deep down our hearts, there lies a longing to experience the fairytale romance even in our real lives. We believe love knows no boundaries, hence romantic movies have always been Bollywood's hot favourite. Reliving the romantic genre, filmmaker Kunal Kohli is back to woo the audience with his latest romantic flick Teri Meri Kahaani, starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. Teri Meri Kahaani is a much-awaited triple-treat tale of love and romance, which weaves three stories spanning over different eras into one single flick.

Story: The story takes us through a journey of eternal love between a couple who have vowed to love each other not only in this life, but in every life to follow. Their love is so strong that even destiny wants to bring them together. In 1910, during the midst of freedom struggle, a Muslim boy (Javed) falls in love with a Punjabi girl (Aaradhana). Next it switches to 1960, where an aspiring music director Govind meets and falls hopelessly in love with the most successful actress of the era Rukhsar. And finally comes 2012 in England, again love rekindles between a hot chic Radha and the sexy dude Krissh. Call it destiny or whatsoever, a boy and girl meet in different eras to rekindle their love for each other but fail to take their love to finality. So, watch out the film to learn whether love wins over the destiny or not.

Performance and Direction: Shahid Kapoor is a complete surprise package in the movie. Kapoor is seen in such a gritty role for the first time and to one's surprise he has done justice to his respective roles from different eras. In short, Shahid does an exceptional job throughout the movie. On the other hand, Priyanka Chopra is just outstanding in her roles. Since Priyanka and Shahid made a great onscreen pair in Kaminey, and that Teri Meri Kahaani is their first film ever since they parted ways after a rumoured whirlwind romance, also contributes to the audience curiosity. The best part in the movie is the chemistry between the duo and the way Kunal concludes the three stories. The distinctiveness of the film is intriguing enough to make the viewers hang on and await for every scene.

Positives: Sunil Patel's cinematography in the movie is just breathtaking. Apart from lead actors, the supporting stars like Prachi Desai and Neha Sharma too have done a good job. Costume designers Manish Malhotra, Kunal Rawal needs a special mention as they have done a marvellous job to make the 1910 and 60's characters look more realistic and genuine. Priyanka looks stunning and is a perfect fit as the typical sixties heroine in some very beautiful sparkly costumes. And Shahid looks very dapper and dashing.

Negatives: The first half looks more of an overdose. It leaves you clueless at times and you fail to understand where the movie is actually heading towards. The back to back portrayal of the different eras without a break or a breather, at times, makes you feel overburdened. Kohli fails to blend one era with the other, hence it lacks the connectivity. Every scene looks incomplete and more a mess.

Music: Sajid-Wajid have provided a perfect musical blend for Teri Meri Kahaani by churning out a soundtrack that has a youthful fervour. Since the film is a love story spanning three eras, there is ample scope for some beautiful situations and good music. Songs like 'Mukhtasar' and 'Allah Jaane' are already the hot favourites amongst the masses. Other tracks too has made a mark with it's soothing music.

Verdict: On the whole, Teri Meri Kahaani is OK. Though it revives the long forgotten romantic era of Bollywood, it somehow lacks the potential of winning one's heart.
