Varun-Alia's Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Review: Fun Sans Logic

The much-awaited film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania which is out in theaters today after a lot of promotions will for sure entertain the audience. Will it also prove it's worth at the box office? Wait and watch!

Kavya Singh (Alia Bhatt) is a typical 'punjabi kudi' whom her father (Ashutosh) wants to get married off with the guy of his choice. There enters Angad (Sidharth Shukla), a ‘phoren  return' handsome munda. Kavya's only goal in life is to get married wearing the most expensive 'Kareena Kapoor' Lehenga! So, Kavya's shopping spree lands her up in Delhi. She is a typical punjabi woman full of attitude, rich and snooty. The one dialogue that she repeats throughout the filmi is, " Mein paidha hui HOT hoon!" That is the kind of attitude she carries.

This trip, where she searches the  lehenga for the wedding ends her meeting up with Humpty (Varun Dhawan). He is a Delhi guy who is just the opposite of Kavya. Humpty falls head over heels for this girl. The typical 'Delhi launda' that he is gets this crazy name Humpty because he was so chubby when he was young.

The character of Humpty is carefree and fun loving who wants to win Kavya's heart. Cupid strikes and they fall madly in love with each other. Kavya goes back to Ambala and Humpty who wants to make Kavya his dulhania tries to impress her father in all possible ways. This may sound familiar as this film which got hugely inspired by the film Dilwale Dulhnia Le Jayenge. Whether he wins the heart of Kavya's father and marries her is the rest of the story...

It is ok to get inspired by Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and make a film based on that Mr. Shashank Kaitan, but that doesn't mean you have to rip off the same story and also give us the same sequence in the scenes exactly like the original and just change the name of the film!

For example, the scene we all fell in love with in DDLJ where Shahrukh Khan makes fun of Kajol after a drunken night, Varun has tried his best bringing out the same emotion in a similar scene but has failed big time!

Varun's tear jerking scene doesn't bring the feel to the audience at the end, instead it becomes fun watching him trying to emote!

Two friends of Humpty have done a good work and have to be appreciated. Ashutosh Rana looks cool for a dad of two daughters.

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt 's on-screen chemistry looks so natural. Varun Dhawan has tried his best and shines out when compared to his earlier Student of The Year (SOTY) and Main Tera Hero. Alia is natural and beautiful after two back to back hits through Two States and SOTY.

Sidharth Shukla is handsome and got a good debut into Bollywood with Dharma productions but he just vanishes at the end without any notice.

Music is not so great apart from the songs 'Saturday Saturday' which is peppy number and the other melody 'Samajhawan' which stays in mind.Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is a full on entertainer which is expected to click at the box office in a massive way too.

Shashank Kaitan's directorial debut HSKD is produced by Karan Johar. It is refreshing to see an out-an-out entertainment film without much logic. Cinematography has to be made a special mention which gels along the storyline so well.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is an out-an-out entertainment more so for the youth! Humpty is worth a watch to have fun without analysing the logic or rake your mind for reasons!
