After being tortured by Censor Board for unacceptable reasons, Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab has finally made its way to the theatres and we can't be happy enough for it!
The film grabbed many eyeballs owing to its fight against the cuts suggested by Censor Board- Pahlaj Nihalani, to be specific. Even the actors of the film promised that the film is worth fighting as the plot of the film deals with one of the most important issues of the nation i.e., narcotics!
So let's see, whether the film is worth the tremendous buzz or not.
Below Are The 15 'On The Sets' Pictures Of Udta Punjab:
Director: Abhishek Chaubey
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh,
Udta Punjab Plot:
Udta Punjaab movie is a stout-hearted thriller, based on the drug mafia and its deep-rooted nexus in Punjab. All the stars are playing pivotal roles in the movie. The title of the movie seems to be apt as per its subject.
The movie solely highlights the problem of drug addiction through the lives of four different characters i.e., a rockstar Tommy Singh (Shahid Kapoor), a migrant labourer Pinky (Alia Bhatt), a doctor Preeti Sahani (Kareena Kapoor) and a cop Sartaj Singh (Diljit Dosanjh).
It's the story of four lives and one connect i.e., Punjab! Udta Punjab takes you on a trip like never before. Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh play characters from different walks of life, fighting the menace of drugs in their own way.
The film journeys into the artificial highs and the real lows that they face while treading the paths fraught with mortal dangers. But above all, the film is made to spread awareness about drugs on youth and society in general.
Coming to the performances of the film, undoubtedly, Shahid and Alia have emerged as the winners and take the trophies for their career best performances. However, that does not mean that Kareena and Diljit have not performed well. They have done an excellent job too, but it's the get-ups and accent of Shahid and Alia, which won our heart (like, literally!).
The way Alia shine throughout the film, even in her extremely de-glam avatar ever, is worth praising! However, we felt Alia's Bhojpuri needed a little more practice and research work but overall the young lass has put her hundred percent into the film!
There are some shirtless sequences of Shahid Kapoor, which might make girls go weak on their knees as Shahid looks damn hot in his chiseled physique!
The on-screen chemistry of Kareena and Diljit is cute and the duo looks great with each other. As a matter of fact, Diljit hails from Punjab, so his Punjabi accent adds more feel to the film and we gotta appreciate Abhishek Chaubey for casting Diljit in a cop role!
Coming to the direction of the film, Abhishek Chaubey has done a good job! However, we think editing of the film could have been better. The make-up artists of the film have done a fantastic job and you will be surprised at how real all the characters are looking on the screen!
The ending of the film is little abrupt but here, we can't complain, as the theme of film is based on the real problem of the nation and the current scenario of Punjab is way too worse! So, it might be possible that keeping this fact in mind Abhishek Chaubey has given an abrupt ending to the film rather than a happy one!
Udta Punjab is one honest film and surely a must watch.
P.S. Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's power-packed performances are worth your time and money!
