12th

Review:
Vidhu
Vinod
Chopra
is
undoubtedly
one
of
the
best
directors
we
have
in
the
industry.
His
movies
Parinda,
1942
A
Love
Story,
and
others
are
regarded
as
cult
classics,
and
his
film
Eklavya:
The
Royal
Guard
(2007)
was
selected
as
India's
official
entry
to
the
Oscars.
After
Eklavya,
he
took
a
break
from
direction
and
made
his
comeback
with
the
2020
release
Shikara.
Though
the
film
didn't
do
great
business
at
the
box
office,
it
was
critically
acclaimed.
Now,
after
three
years,
Chopra
is
back
with
his
new
directorial
titled
12th
Fail
starring
Vikrant
Massey
in
the
lead
role.
So,
is
this
film
worth
your
time
and
money?
Well,
the
answer
is
a
BIG
YES!
12th
Fail
is
based
on
a
book
of
the
same
name
written
by
Anurag
Pandey.
It
is
based
on
the
real-life
story
of
IPS
Manoj
Kumar
Sharma.
Manoj
(Vikrant)
is
from
Chambal
and
his
only
aim
is
to
pass
12th
standard
and
become
a
chaprasi.
But
one
incident
changes
his
life
and
he
decides
to
become
a
DSP
(Deputy
Superintendent
of
Police).
However,
destiny
has
something
else
written
for
him,
and
then
starts
his
journey
of
becoming
an
IPS.
While
the
film
is
based
on
a
book,
Vidhu
Vinod
Chopra
has
written
the
screenplay
and
directed
it.
From
the
first
scene
itself,
the
movie
keeps
you
hooked
to
the
screens,
and
the
interval
point
will
give
you
a
big
shock.
It
will
be
difficult
for
you
to
wait
to
know
what
will
happen
next.
In
just
5
seconds,
the
interval
scene
changes
from
a
happy
moment
to
a
sad
moment
and
you
will
be
like
'WTF
just
happened'!
The
second
half
starts
on
a
slow
note,
and
maybe
for
a
few
minutes,
you
might
feel
that
the
pace
of
the
movie
has
become
very
slow.
However,
soon,
the
film
picks
up
and
then
keeps
you
engaged
to
the
last
scene.
The
climax
of
12th
Fail
is
undoubtedly
the
best
climax
we
have
seen
this
year.
It
creates
an
ambiance
of
fear
and
then
gets
tears
in
our
eyes.
The
way
Vidhu
Vinod
Chopra
has
narrated
the
climax,
we
feel
that
we
are
giving
the
IPS
interview
and
we
are
worried
about
Manoj's
result.
We
know
what's
going
to
happen,
but
still,
the
way
it
has
been
directed,
it
keeps
us
on
the
edge
of
the
seats
to
know
what
will
happen
next.
Performance-wise,
Vikrant
Massey
should
be
ready
to
pick
up
the
Best
Actor
Awards.
He
has
given
an
exceptional
performance!
He
is
so
fantastic
that
we
simply
can't
imagine
any
other
actor
in
this
role.
While
Vikrant
leads
and
gives
an
amazing
performance,
even
the
supporting
cast
is
simply
wow!
Anshumaan
Pushkar,
known
for
his
performance
in
the
series
Jamtara,
shines
his
role
here.
Anant
V
Joshi
also
leaves
a
strong
mark,
and
Medha
Shankar
is
also
good
in
her
role.
A
special
mention
to
Geeta
Agrawal
Sharma
who
plays
the
role
of
Manoj's
mother.
Earlier,
this
year,
she
impressed
us
in
OMG
2
and
now,
in
12th
Fail.
It
is
good
to
see
Tum
Bin
fame
Priyanshu
Chatterjee
on
the
big
screen
after
a
long
time,
and
he
has
performed
well
in
his
extended
cameo.
To
end
it,
we
would
like
to
say
that
Vikrant
Massey
in
his
interview
with
Filmibeat
stated
that
12th
Fail
is
his
and
Vidhu
Vinod
Chopra's
best
work
till
date,
and
well,
he
was
absolutely
correct.
This
movie
is
a
must-watch!
