The
Archies
Review:
Zoya
Akhtar
is
undoubtedly
one
of
the
best
filmmakers
we
have
in
the
Hindi
film
industry.
From
Luck
By
Chance
to
Zindagi
Na
Milegi
Dobara
to
Gully
Boy,
she
has
always
delivered
something
new
and
wonderful
to
the
audiences.
Now,
her
latest
film,
The
Archies,
has
started
streaming
on
Netflix
today.
The
movie
stars
Agastya
Nanda,
Khushi
Kapoor,
Suhana
Khan,
Vedang
Raina,
Mihir
Ahuja,
Dot
and
Yuvraj
Menda
in
the
lead
roles.
So,
is
the
movie
worth
your
time?

our
review
below...
The
Archies
is
about
Archie
(Agastya
Nanda),
Betty
(Khushi
Kapoor),
Veronica
(Suhana
Khan),
Jughead
(Mihir
Ahuja),
Reggie
(Vedang
Raina),
Ethel
(Dot),
and
Dilton
(Yuvraj
Menda).
These
17
year
olds
are
staying
in
an
Anglo-Indian
city
called
Riverdale.
The
teenagers
have
their
problems
of
love,
jobs,
and
careers,
and
amid
that
they
come
to
know
that
Green
Park,
a
garden
in
their
city
is
being
demolished
and
a
hotel
will
be
made
there.
How
these
kids
try
to
save
the
Green
Park,
forms
the
rest
of
the
story...
The
movie
is
based
on
the
characters
from
Archie
Comic
books,
and
it
is
set
in
the
1960s.
First
thing
that
impresses
us
a
lot
is
that
writers
Ayesha
Devitre
Dhillon,
Reema
Kagti,
and
Zoya
Akhtar
have
very
well
fit
in
Riverdale
town
in
India.
The
Anglo-Indian
touch
in
the
movie
is
just
perfect.
Also,
through
her
story-telling,
Zoya
always
takes
us
into
the
world
of
her
movie,
and
that
what
happens
here.
Zoya
has
made
The
Archies
has
a
musical.
Musicals
as
a
genre
is
not
much
explored
in
Hindi
film
industry.
A
few
years
ago,
Anurag
Basu
tried
that
with
Jagga
Jasoos,
and
though
the
film
received
a
great
response
from
critics,
it
failed
to
make
a
mark
at
the
box
office.
If
you
are
aware
of
what
musical
films
are,
then
you
will
surely
like
The
Archies,
but
if
you
don't
know
much
about
the
genre,
then
you
will
wonder
why
in
every
10-15
minutes
there's
a
song.
The
Archies
is
not
one
of
the
best
works
of
Zoya,
but
it
is
not
a
bad
film.
She
has
presented
a
visually
beautiful
film
that
at
the
end
will
get
a
smile
on
your
face.
Also,
in
the
past
couple
of
years,
we
haven't
watched
a
film
with
teenagers
as
the
protagonists.
So,
that
makes
The
Archies
a
refreshing
watch.
Talking
about
performances,
all
the
six
actors
have
been
given
a
good
scope,
and
all
of
them
have
made
a
confident
debut.
Khushi
Kapoor
is
very
good
as
Betty
and
leaves
a
strong
mark.
Agastya
Nanda
is
one
of
the
best
male
debuts
we
have
seen
in
a
long
time
in
the
Hindi
film
industry.
Also,
he
will
remind
you
of
young
Abhishek
Bachchan.
Vedang
Raina
looks
dashing,
and
has
given
a
wonderful
performance.
Mihir
Ahuja
gets
the
perfect
comic
timing,
and
Yuvraj
Menda
too
has
done
a
good
job.
Dot
as
Ethel
looks
the
cutest
and
has
performed
well,
and
Suhana
Khan
is
also
quite
good
in
her
role
as
Veronica.
The
movie
also
stars
some
other
actors
like
Koel
Puri,
Tara
Sharma,
Vinay
Pathak,
Luke
Kenny,
and
Ally
Khan,
and
all
of
them
are
good
in
their
respective
roles.
In
a
musical,
songs
play
a
very
important
part,
and
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's
music
has
surely
done
wonders
for
the
film.
Va
Va
Voom
is
the
best
from
the
lot.
Overall,
The
Archies
is
a
refreshing,
feel-good
movie
with
some
newcomers
who
have
performed
well.
You
can
chill
and
watch
it
on
Netflix.
