"If you dare to dream, you've the capability to win it." The new Bollywood damsel Geeta Basra believes in this statement. She is the most attractive face that has appeared in Bollywood silver screen in the year 2006. Within a short span of eight months this neophyte has appeared in the lead roles in two major movies and about to sign contracts with many other multistarrer projects.

Born as the daughter of the emigrant Punjabi parents in London, Geeta Basra always dreamt of Bollywood stardom. She learnt to use the videocassette recorder and put a video in to watch films even before she began to walk. She first performed on stage, when she was only two years old. She is an ardent fan of Madhuri Dixit for many years and performing Madhuri numbers. Madhuri Dixit influenced Geeta Basra's talent as an actress and dancer. Geeta Basra used to watch Madhuri's movies from childhood and tried to imitate them. When Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hun was being made Geeta Basra was dying to play that role but; could not make her dream come true since she was still at Portsmouth, UK. Even then she used to be in her own world and imagine being an actress.

Geeta Basra's desire for Bollywood kept growing and at the age of seventeen, she got convinced that it was the right age to start her Bollywood career. She came to Mumbai and joined the acting school as any other Bollywood aspirant. The Kishore Namit Kapoor's acting school, where Geeta Basra has taken her acting lesons is the same school where Bollywood celebrities like Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra were trained. She got adjusted to the Mumbai city while taking acting classes and diction classes at Kishore Namit Kapoor's acting school. She returned to London after taking her acting lessons and hired a manager. It was her manager who introduced Geeta Basra to Aditya Datt, the director of her debut film Dil Diya Hai.

Aditya Datt's Dil Diya Hai is a multistarrer movie casting Mithun Chakraborty, Emraan Hashmi, and Ashmit Patel. Geeta Basra had high dreams while acting in the role of expatriate Neha in this movie. She was realizing her dreams to come into Madhuri's shoes while started acting for the movie. However the movie got rejected on the day one of its release. Although the film initially appeared to have a different story line, it ended up being as repetitive as any of Emraan's old films. But; Geeta Basra did not have to end up there with her dreams. She has already signed a contract with Shyam Bajaj's The Train, again with Emraan Hashmi. She still dreams that she cannot be Madhuri Dixit with one film and there is a long way to go before she accomplish her dream.

In Shyam Bajaj's The Train, the story moves around Geeta Basra's central character. It is a break for this new actress to get a female oriented subject in her second movie itself. In contrary to Geeta Basra's cute, young, bubbly girl character in DDH, she is a mature businesswoman who is completely aware about her personality and knows how to carry herself well in The Train. There is such a distinct feel to her entire characterization. This character will definitely work for her as a performer.

Bollywood is Geeta Basra's dream ever since she started to dream. She will be continuing in this field as long as she can. She has learnt form her experiences and still dreams to become a glittering star like Madhuri Dixit in the skies of Bollywood.
