Ekta Kapoor's serials always says" The rich do not need values and the poor do not have time for them. It is middle-class values that my serials are about." That is working very fine and Ekta has every reason to be proud.

Since producing her first blockbuster television program at 19, Ekta Kapoor has rewritten the script on TV entertainment for the masses. She has created more than 20 soaps on 10 major Indian networks; a comedy series she created ran for 5 years. The Indian showbiz people watch her every move, and older, more experienced producers are quick to copy any new Kapoor concept.

Ekta Kapoor as a Creative Director

As creative director of Balaji Telefilms in Mumbai, Kapoor, 31, continues to produce absorbing dramas - whether it's about an ambitious tycoon or a beautiful but scheming wife or a 70-year-old grandmother looking for a job - it consistently strikes a chord with viewers across the subcontinent. Kapoor now hopes to find similar success with audiences in a different medium: the big screen.

Now she is making new records on Big Screen also. Ekta Kapoor (born June 7, 1975) is the Creative Head of Balaji Telefilms. She is the daughter of Indian actor of yesteryears Jeetendra and sister of Tusshar Kapoor. She has produced a host of television serials based on conflicts in Indian joint families. She is notorious for her idiosyncrasy for naming all of the TV Serials produced by her with names starting from letter "K". This is generally attributed to some sort of superstitious belief.

Starting off from the scratch with her star father Jitendra's status helping her a little in pulling off her dream ambition, Ekta Kapoor gambled her way into television production.

Though her dreams appeared to shatter as her creative products flopped on the small screen, her confidence in her self and her belief in the Almighty saw her pulling off success with a hilarious comedy show "Hum Paanch". After that there has been no looking back for this young wizard of Indian television. Mrs. Shobha Kapoor (Ekta's mother), the Managing Director of Balaji, is in charge of the overall administrative and production activities of the company. Ms. Ekta Kapoor, the creative director in the company, oversees the creative side of the company's business. She has been the instrumental factor behind BTL's foray into regional channels. Academically she has a graduation degree in Commerce from the University of Mumbai.

"Full of flavours" is how actor Tusshar Kapoor defines his relationship with sister Ekta. One is cool, calm and cooperative while the other is temperamental, terse and touchy. "She is still very determined to prove what she thinks is right. She never gives up and I really admire her for the patience she has to wait for her efforts to bear fruit", says Tusshar.

Ekta Kapoor and co stars

Working with Ekta has been a nice experience for she's a great person to work with, and she really knows what she wants. Manav and Shweta have all praises for Ekta Kapoor for giving them good chunky roles in her serials. Ekta Kapoor is extremely respected by all artists in Balaji Telefilms.

Ekta Kapoor's Bhojpuri film

Television soap queen and film producer Ekta Kapoor has joined hands with Bhojpuri film production banner Siddhivinayak Media Entertainment to produce two big budget Bhojpuri films. Hum Bal Brahmachari Tu Kanya Kunwari, will be a joint production of Ekta's Balaji telefilms and Siddhivinayak Media Entertainment headed by writer-director producer Mahesh Pandey. Pandey has written the story of the film and will also be directing it. The film hits the screen in April and stars Bhojpuri actors Kunal Singh, Sikander Kharbanda, Brijesh Tiwari, Divya Desai, Ali Asgar, Yunus Pervez and Sanjay Pandey. The film will be shot in Raj Pipla in Gujarat and Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Ekta Kapoor's Wedding special Serial

It's on the minds of most soap addicts these days. The "Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai" wedding special, where the protagonists Kripa and Angad are to tie the knot and make a lot of people very happy. Orchestrating the event is the young lady who orchestrates much of what happens on Indian television today.
