'A star kid in the making' the industry deems her; nevertheless she strives to prove herself to reviewers without being springy. As the eldest daughter of the actor couple Dharmendra and Hema Malini, Esha Deol was born on 2nd November 1982. Born into a family of film enthusiasts Esha was never away from limelight. Half-sister to Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and granddaughter of the film producer Jaya Chakravarthy, Esha was all-rounder, be it studies, sports, arts, etc. She has a younger sister Ahana Deol.

Esha attended Jamnabai Narsee School and went on to pursue Masters Degree in Media Arts and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Technology at Oxford University. As a foregone conclusion she evidently joined films by making her debut through Vinay Shukla's film Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe (2002). Contrary to the expectations and hype generated, the film failed to work wonders at the box office, though her acting talents were much appreciated. She secured the Lux New Face Award for that year.

In the consecutive two years she worked in a spate of films (Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Kucch To Hai, Chura Liya Hai Tumne, etc) which hardly created a stir at the box office. Dhoom the thriller released in 2004 offered her the much needed big hit that she had been long awaiting. It projected a new screen image as the bold hep girl of the 21st century.

Dhoom success propelled her to great heights and new offers came across. She acted in some well-etched movies; Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan's joint production, Kaal, Boney Kapoor's No Entry and action thriller Dus. Esha is slowly and steadily gaining ground, realising her capabilities by taking up meaty roles in movies in different languages as in Mani Rathnam's Yuva, a hindi remake of the Tamil film Aayitha Ezhuthu. Esha is all geared up to act in her mother's directorial endeavour alongwith Rekha and Abhishek Bachchan.

A trained Indian classical dancer in the Oddissi mode and with training in Bharatanatyam by her mother, she has presented many classical dance programs with her on stage. Her sound relation with her boyfriend Arya Babbar, is quite known to every soul in the film fraternity. The distinguished footballer is one of the few Bollywood actresses with toned, brawny appearance and buoyant spirits. Esha 'the divine beloved' typifies the modern day actress with her rich blend of beauty, sensibility and dignity, a heritage handed over from her parents.
