He took all by surprise and instantly rose to great heights. Ever since he has managed to remain there. His physique, looks and mastery over dance won the hearts of many. Hrithik Roshan, rose to fame with his debut, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai opposite Amisha Patel. Apparently, this was her debut film too. Father Rakesh Roshan launched him with this movie. He won two awards for his debut...Best Newcomer and Best Actor.

Soon after his overnight success, his other movies did not take off as expected. He saw a few flops. Soon however he got back on track. Mostly referred to as the Sylvester Stallone of India, Hrithik is one of the top 10 actors in Bollywood. Two years before his debut, he began preparing himself for the launch. He worked on his body, dance and acting skills. He took lessons in fencing, singing, riding etc. Finally when he made his appearance he enthralled his audience.

At the Sahara Sangeet Awards nite in London, Hrithik was voted as the sexiest male star of Bollywood. At the Filmfare Awards he won the Best Actor award for Koi Mil Gaya, in both the popular and the Critics field. He bagged the Best Actor award for the same movie in the Zee Cine Awards. This is a science-fiction movie, which deals with aliens. Here he plays the role of a mentally challenged person.

Before his leap into films as an actor, he worked as Associate and Assistant Director for movies Karobaar, Koyla, Karan Arjun and Khudgarz. He also starred as a child artiste in Bhagwan Dada (1986) and Aap Ke Deewane (1980).
